We human beings have notable characteristics that are not found elsewhere. We are not hives nor algorithms. We are unlike the agents in other non-human complex systems where all the agents are identical and easily replaceable. Our qualities are essential and they play a fundamental role in knowledge work and modern organisations.
We have a unique identity, diversity and heterogeneity.
We have have free-will, spontaneity, and agency. We are not driven merely by instincts, pain or pleasure, needs or desires, but we are driven by beliefs, values, principles, sentiments, emotions, intuition, irrationality, and much more.
And we are intelligent; we have memory and we learn. In addition, we can co-create new knowledge and share it with others.
